What is the Tax Court?
The U.S. Tax Court is a legislatively authorized court which provides a national forum for swift resolution of disputes between taxpayers and the IRS. The Court is provides taxpayers with a convenient place of trial and, when their disputes involve relatively small amounts of tax, simplified procedures.
What types of cases are heard in Tax Court?
Many types of cases can be elevated to the Tax Court. If you disagree with an audit, you may have relief in Tax Court. If you are unsuccessful in a Collection Due Process Hearing, you may have relief in Tax Court.
We try to resolve all IRS disputes without the necessity of Tax Court, but sometimes, it is unavoidable. You can rest assured that if you need Tax Court representation, we are prepared to fight for you.
Can I represent myself in Tax Court?
Yes you can. You can also perform your own open heart surgery, I just wouldn’t recommend it.
Would you go to criminal court without a lawyer? You shouldn’t. Why would you go to Tax Court without an experienced tax attorney?
